Description
Rayabox is a relatively new entrant into the telecommunications and networking market, particularly focusing on fixed wireless access (FWA) solutions. It’s known for its innovative approach to delivering high-speed internet, especially in rural or underserved areas. MikroTik, on the other hand, is a well-established company that manufactures a wide range of networking equipment, including routers, switches, and wireless devices, which are popular among network administrators for their versatility and cost-effectiveness.
It uses the brand new L11UG-5HaxD board for data transmitting see the compatibility overview for more information.
Mikrotik Compatibility Overview
The compatibility between Rayabox products and MikroTik equipment hinges on a few factors:
- Networking Standards: Both Rayabox and MikroTik support standard networking protocols (e.g., IPv4, IPv6, PPPoE) and wireless standards (e.g., 802.11ac/ax for Wi-Fi, 5 GHz spectrum for FWA). This baseline compatibility ensures that devices from both manufacturers can communicate effectively in a network setup.
- Ethernet Interfaces: Rayabox devices often include Ethernet ports for wired connections, which are fully compatible with MikroTik routers and switches. This allows for seamless integration of Rayawave’s FWA solutions into a MikroTik-managed network.
- Routing and Bridging: MikroTik routers support a wide range of routing and bridging protocols, including those typically used in Rayawave deployments. If Rayawave devices are used to deliver internet to a location, a MikroTik router can effectively manage traffic, implement QoS, or even handle VPN tunnels, ensuring comprehensive network management.
- Configuration Flexibility: MikroTik’s RouterOS is highly configurable, allowing network administrators to customize setups to work with Rayabox devices. For instance, setting up DHCP, NAT, or static routing to work with a Rayabox internet feed can be done within MikroTik’s interface.
- Power over Ethernet (PoE): Some Rayabox devices may require PoE for power, and MikroTik offers PoE-capable routers and switches, making it convenient to power Rayabox equipment directly from a MikroTik device without needing additional power adapters.
